Demolition

Birstalls Ltd are fully experienced in all aspects of demolition and site clearance and work together with Birstalls Asbestos Surveying and Asbestos Removal departments to ensure that projects run smoothly, efficiently and more cost effectively from start to finish.

Soft Strip

Soft stripping is either carried out as part of a demolition project (prior to machanical or hand demolition) or as a stand alone project to prepare a building for re-furbishment. Soft strips generally include the removal of all windowframes, floors, partition walls, roofs, electrics and cables as well as anything else that can be removed by hand prior to full demolition

Mechanical Demolition

Mechanical demolition is carried out using 360 degree excavators with a variety of demolition attachments such as nibblers and shears. For tall projects or projects where it is not possible due to confined area restrictions, a Long Reach machine will be used to enable Birstalls to reach to the very top of a building from the existing ground level. Please look at the Gallery page for pictures of the various machinary in action.

Hand Demolition

Where buildings are attached to others, hand demolition will be utilised in order to seperate the buildings safely and securely. This kind of demolition can be combined with engineers propping and securing the remaining structures where required. Hand demolition is also utilised in areas of archtectural interest, allowing the carefull removal of stone decorations, pillars, door heads, clocks etc.

Site clearance

Birstalls can offer full site clearances to remove mounds of earth, concrete hardstandings, tarmac carparks, contaminated land, disused sub-terrainian storage tanks, giving the client a clear flat plot to commence work on.

Reclimation & Recycling

As much of the waste produced as possible is taken to recycling yards to be prepared and recycled. Products include ferrous & non-ferrous metals, bricks, slates, stone and items of architectural interest. Any products that cannot be sold on in their original form (such as concrete) is crushed to any standard required and recycled in to hardcore for backfilling sites, laying under roads and preparing areas for new foundations etc.
